South Lane Mental Health’s Qualified Mental Health Associates have less than a master’s degree but have a minimum combination of three years of education and/or closely related experience.
Qualified Mental Health Associates (QMHA) are important members of the supported housing team. QMHAs work with clients who have severe and persistent mental illnesses and who need additional special support. Typical work includes medication monitoring, training around independent living skills such as shopping, cleaning and personal hygiene, socialization, budgeting, and managing day-to-day problems. Several QMHAs work in our residential program, Bohemia Residential Community. Others provide in-home or community-based support.
QMHA staff work closely with master’s level counselor-case managers and psychiatric nurse practitioners.
